The Premier League is gearing up for another big weekend of matches, this time before October's FIFA international window pauses play for much of the next two weeks.

For Manchester United and manager Erik ten Hag, pressure is mounting after some grim recent results. A mid-September course correction is looking like a blip, with the Red Devils going winless in four in a row across all competitions. While the sole loss of that bunch (a 3-0 home capitulation against Tottenham) is ugly enough, the draws aren't much better. A scoreless draw with relegation-threatened Crystal Palace left few Man United fans pleased, while Europa League draws with FC Twente and Porto were as sloppy as they were disappointing.

That makes Sunday's away day against Aston Villa – who have underlined their quality with shutout wins over Bayern Munich and Swiss side Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League during the past few weeks – a crucial moment for Ten Hag's tenure with Man United. A solid performance with few embarrassing moments would help, but ultimately one of England's biggest clubs is under intense pressure to get better results. There's no such thing as a "respectable" loss for the Red Devils in the Premier League.

Here's what to know as we head into this weekend's fixtures:
